The area was founded in 1911 and took its name from Vera McDonald, daughter of the community's founder. For many years, Veradale operated as a census-designated place, and at the 2000 census, the area was home to 9,387 residents spread across 3.1 square miles. The community has maintained its own post office, serving as a local institution for residents. In 2003, Veradale was incorporated into the city of Spokane Valley, marking a significant change in its administrative status. At the time of incorporation, the population was predominantly white at nearly 94 percent, with smaller populations of Asian, Hispanic or Latino, Native American, and African American residents. The median household income stood at $46,676, and the community had a notably low poverty rate of 4.1 percent.
