If you've got a car sitting in your driveway that you don't want anymore, the hardest part is over — you've already decided to let it go. Joe's Cash For Cars makes everything after that as simple as it gets. You call, we make you an offer, you say yes, we show up and pay you on the spot. That's it.
We buy cars for cash all over Kensington and the surrounding Montgomery County area — running or not, any make, any model, free towing, scheduled pickup.
A lot of people assume their old car isn't worth much — especially if it doesn't run, has body damage, or has been sitting for a while. But we buy cars in every kind of condition, and we almost always pay more than people expect. Give us a call at 619-762-2001 and find out exactly what your car is worth.
There's no shortage of people who claim they'll buy your car — but a lot of them will lowball you, ghost you after the inspection, or show up with a completely different number than what they quoted. We don't operate that way.
We service every part of Kensington, including:
Three steps from your first call to getting paid. No runaround, no hidden fees.
Tell us your car's year, make, model, and condition. We give you a real offer in under two minutes — no callbacks, no pressure.
Accept the offer and pick a time that works for you — often the same day or next. We come right to you in Kensington — home, work, wherever. You don't move an inch.
Our driver brings all the paperwork, handles the tow, and pays you before they leave. Under 30 minutes, start to finish.
Some car-buying services quote you high to get you interested, then the driver shows up and suddenly there's a problem with the catalytic converter or the transmission mounts and the offer drops by $300. We've heard this story from Kensington customers dozens of times. Our quote is based on an honest assessment, and that's the number we show up with — period.
Once you accept your offer, we'll set up a pickup time that works for you — often the same day or next day, especially if you're anywhere in Kensington or the surrounding Montgomery County area. We run routes here regularly, so scheduling is rarely an issue. Give us a call and we'll lock in a time.
Transferring a car in Maryland involves more forms than most people expect — especially if the title isn't straightforward or there's an outstanding loan. Our drivers carry everything, know the process cold, and make sure it's all done correctly so you're not on the hook for anything down the road.
After we buy your vehicle in Kensington, it's either resold, parted out, or recycled through licensed facilities that meet all Maryland environmental regulations. We never abandon vehicles or dump them — every car we buy is handled responsibly.

Kensington is a small town in Montgomery County, Maryland, with a population of 2,122 according to the 2020 census. The greater Kensington area, encompassing the 20895 ZIP code, is home to 19,753 residents.
The land where Kensington now stands was primarily agricultural until 1873, when the B&O Railroad completed the Metropolitan Branch across Montgomery County. A community emerged at the intersection of the new railroad line and the old Rockville-to-Bladensburg road, initially called Knowles Station. In the early 1890s, Washington developer Brainard Warner purchased land parcels to build a planned Victorian community inspired by a trip to London. Warner named his development Kensington Park, and when the town incorporated in 1894, he persuaded local officials to name it Kensington.
Originally serving as a summer refuge for Washington residents escaping the capital's humidity, Kensington gradually transformed into a commuter suburb. Residents traveled to downtown Washington on B&O passenger trains and, beginning in 1895, on a streetcar line. The streetcar service was replaced with bus service in 1935, and the right-of-way became Kensington Parkway.
Major changes to the town's layout include the bridging of the original railroad crossing in 1937 and the extension and widening of Connecticut Avenue in 1957. The historic core of Kensington was listed on the National Register of Historic Places as the Kensington Historic District in 1980. The town's southernmost section, originally mapped by Warner, remains largely unchanged and historically preserved.
