If you've got a car sitting in your driveway that you don't want anymore, the hardest part is over — you've already decided to let it go. Joe's Cash For Cars makes everything after that as simple as it gets. You call, we make you an offer, you say yes, we show up and hand you cash. That's it.
El Cajon is a vibrant East County city and we serve all its neighborhoods.
A lot of people assume their old car isn't worth much — especially if it doesn't run, has body damage, or has been sitting for a while. But we buy cars in every kind of condition, and we almost always pay more than people expect. Give us a call at 619-762-2001 and find out exactly what your car is worth.
There's no shortage of people who claim they'll buy your car — but a lot of them will lowball you, ghost you after the inspection, or show up with a completely different number than what they quoted. We don't operate that way.
We service every part of El Cajon, including:
Three steps from your first call to cash in hand. No runaround, no hidden fees.
Tell us your car's year, make, model, and condition. We give you a real offer in under two minutes — no callbacks, no pressure.
Accept the offer and pick a time. Same-day is usually available. We come right to you in El Cajon — home, work, wherever. You don't move an inch.
Our driver brings all the paperwork, handles the tow, and hands you cash before they leave. Under 30 minutes, start to finish.
Some car-buying services quote you high to get you interested, then the driver shows up and suddenly there's a problem with the catalytic converter or the transmission mounts and the offer drops by $300. We've heard this story from El Cajon customers dozens of times. Our quote is based on an honest assessment, and that's the number we show up with — period.
Once you accept your offer, we can usually get a truck out to you the same day — especially if you're anywhere in El Cajon or the surrounding San Diego County area. We run routes here regularly, so scheduling is rarely an issue. Call before noon and we'll do everything we can to make it happen that afternoon.
Transferring a car in California involves more forms than most people expect — especially if the title isn't straightforward or there's an outstanding loan. Our drivers carry everything, know the process cold, and make sure it's all done correctly so you're not on the hook for anything down the road.
After we buy your vehicle in El Cajon, it's either resold, parted out, or recycled through licensed facilities that meet all California environmental regulations. We never abandon vehicles or dump them — every car we buy is handled responsibly.

El Cajon, located seventeen miles east of downtown San Diego in San Diego County, takes its name from the Spanish word for "box," a reference to the box-like shape of the valley that surrounds the city. The name was first recorded on September 10, 1821, as an alternative designation for the area, and it became the official name of the modern town's post office. In 1905, California banker and historian Zoeth Skinner Eldredge insisted the name be expanded to its current form.
The city's history is deeply rooted in Spanish and Mexican colonial periods. During Spanish rule, mission padres discovered that the El Cajon Valley's surrounding foothills and sparse rainfall made it ideal pastureland for cattle herds serving the missions and their native Indian converts. After Mexican independence, Governor Pio Pico granted the El Cajon Valley to Dona Maria Antonio Estudillo in 1845 as repayment for a government debt. Her husband, Don Miguel Pedrorena, a Spanish native who arrived from Peru, operated a trading business on the land.
Following the Mexican-American War, the United States honored the land grants. In 1868, Los Angeles developer Isaac Lankershim purchased the rancho and hired Amaziah Lord Knox to manage it. Knox established a hotel in 1876 to serve travelers heading to Julian, where gold had been discovered. By 1878, twenty-five families lived in the valley, and Knox became the first postmaster when the post office opened in the hotel lobby. The San Diego, Cuyamaca and Eastern Railway reached El Cajon during the 1880s, and the city was formally incorporated in 1912. For much of the twentieth century, El Cajon thrived as an agricultural community known for grapes, avocados, and citrus. Today, the city's character reflects both its agricultural heritage and its growth as a modern suburban community.
