Muse is an unincorporated community in Le Flore County, Oklahoma, situated along Oklahoma State Highway 63 approximately 17 miles southeast of Talihina. The community bears the name of Rev. Joseph Muse, a Baptist minister. When Muse was first established, it was located in Wade County within the Apukshunnubbee District of the Choctaw Nation in Indian Territory. A post office was established there on October 1, 1896, serving the area's residents and connecting them to the broader communication network of the territory. The post office went through changes in the following decades, with its name changed to Pine Valley, Oklahoma on December 16, 1926. However, this designation was short-lived. On May 11, 1927, a new post office called Muse, Oklahoma was established at a slightly different location, restoring the community's original name. Today, Muse remains an unincorporated community, preserving its connection to the region's history as part of the Choctaw Nation's heritage and the broader development of southeastern Oklahoma.
