Pocono Summit is an unincorporated community and census-designated place situated in Monroe County, Pennsylvania, with portions extending into both Coolbaugh and Tobyhanna townships. Spanning 16.1 square miles, the area is predominantly land and is home to two notable lakes: Stillwater Lake and Pocono Summit Lake. According to the 2010 census, approximately 2,964 people lived in the community at that time.
The area supports educational services through the Pocono Mountain School District's Sullivan Trail campus, which houses both Pocono Mountain West High School and Pocono Mountain West Junior High School. Recreation opportunities abound in the region, including Camp Minsi, a Boy Scout camp that opened in 1949 and occupies more than 1,200 acres along the western shores of Stillwater Lake. The community also encompasses portions of Pennsylvania State Game Lands 127.
Pocono Summit's location along major transportation corridors has shaped its development. Pennsylvania State Route 940 and State Route 314 intersect in the area, while Interstate 380 runs along the town's edge in a north-south direction. The community has historical significance in rail transportation; until the early 1960s, several passenger trains served Pocono Summit station, including the Lake Cities, Phoebe Snow, Twilight, and Pocono Express. In the final years of Erie Lackawanna passenger service through the Poconos, Pocono Summit remained the last functioning station between Scranton to the northwest and Cresco to the east.
