Located approximately 133 miles south of Kansas City, the community sits at an elevation of 932 feet above sea level and covers roughly three-quarters of a square mile. According to the 2020 census, Opolis had a population of 104 residents living in 47 households. The community is primarily composed of white residents, with a median age of 43.7 years. Families with children make up a significant portion of the households, and the area is served by Pittsburg USD 250 public school district. Today, Opolis remains a quiet rural community, maintaining its small-town character while continuing to serve as part of Crawford County's fabric in the state's southeastern region.
