New Harmony is a small town located in northern Washington County, Utah, with a population of 236 residents according to the 2020 census. The area's history is tied to early mineral extraction efforts, when settlers first built a crude foundry in 1852 to mine and refine iron. However, this initial venture was abandoned soon after due to transport and logistics challenges that made the operation impractical.
The town itself was officially settled in 1862 when families relocated from Fort Harmony after that settlement had to be abandoned. The move was necessitated by a devastating month of heavy rains in January and February of that year, part of the Great Flood of 1862, which washed away most of Fort Harmony's adobe walls. These displaced families established New Harmony as their new home, and the town has remained in this location ever since.

The landscape is characterized by pinyon-juniper woodland vegetation, and the town lies within the watershed of Ash Creek, part of the larger Colorado River basin.
