Enterprise is a city located in northwestern Washington County, Utah, with a population of 2,027 according to the 2020 census. Situated on the south rim of the Great Basin, the town has a semi-arid climate and covers 2.9 square miles. A post office has operated in Enterprise since 1899, following the settlement of residents from the abandoned town of Hebron. The community earned its name from the settlers' enterprising plan to secure a reliable water supply. Early cattle ranchers flourished in the area, but agriculture and sustained settlement required more than the local natural supply could provide. Determined settlers undertook an ambitious dam construction project, which many believed impossible. Despite the significant effort and initial hardship, the dam was completed and its resulting reservoir has continued to support the town ever since. Today, Enterprise maintains strong community traditions, hosting an annual Cornfest each late August, founded in 1990, where residents and neighboring communities celebrate the local harvest with corn, entertainment, food, and festivities. The city is home to two schools serving students from kindergarten through twelfth grade. The 2020 census showed a young, family-oriented population with a median age of 28.7 years, and nearly half of all households included children under eighteen.
