If you've got a car sitting in your driveway that you don't want anymore, the hardest part is over — you've already decided to let it go. Joe's Cash For Cars makes everything after that as simple as it gets. You call, we make you an offer, you say yes, we show up and pay you on the spot. That's it.
We buy cars for cash all over Garita and the surrounding San Miguel County area — running or not, any make, any model, free towing, scheduled pickup.
A lot of people assume their old car isn't worth much — especially if it doesn't run, has body damage, or has been sitting for a while. But we buy cars in every kind of condition, and we almost always pay more than people expect. Give us a call at 619-762-2001 and find out exactly what your car is worth.
There's no shortage of people who claim they'll buy your car — but a lot of them will lowball you, ghost you after the inspection, or show up with a completely different number than what they quoted. We don't operate that way.
We service every part of Garita, including:
Three steps from your first call to getting paid. No runaround, no hidden fees.
Tell us your car's year, make, model, and condition. We give you a real offer in under two minutes — no callbacks, no pressure.
Accept the offer and pick a time that works for you — often the same day or next. We come right to you in Garita — home, work, wherever. You don't move an inch.
Our driver brings all the paperwork, handles the tow, and pays you before they leave. Under 30 minutes, start to finish.
Some car-buying services quote you high to get you interested, then the driver shows up and suddenly there's a problem with the catalytic converter or the transmission mounts and the offer drops by $300. We've heard this story from Garita customers dozens of times. Our quote is based on an honest assessment, and that's the number we show up with — period.
Once you accept your offer, we'll set up a pickup time that works for you — often the same day or next day, especially if you're anywhere in Garita or the surrounding San Miguel County area. We run routes here regularly, so scheduling is rarely an issue. Give us a call and we'll lock in a time.
Transferring a car in New Mexico involves more forms than most people expect — especially if the title isn't straightforward or there's an outstanding loan. Our drivers carry everything, know the process cold, and make sure it's all done correctly so you're not on the hook for anything down the road.
After we buy your vehicle in Garita, it's either resold, parted out, or recycled through licensed facilities that meet all New Mexico environmental regulations. We never abandon vehicles or dump them — every car we buy is handled responsibly.

Garita, also known as Variadero, is an unincorporated community in San Miguel County, New Mexico, situated on State Road 104 where it crosses the Conchas River. The area has a rich dual heritage reflected in its two names. Variadero, derived from the Spanish word variar meaning "to change," references the shifting course of the river through the landscape. Garita, meaning "lookout" or "government building" in Spanish, comes from distinctive square blocks of sandstone located about eight miles southeast along the highway that resembled a Spanish sentry post to early settlers.
The community's settlement history begins with Jose Laureano Estrada, who made a permanent home along the Conchas Arroyo around the time of the Civil War and is recognized as the first settler. The area was initially called Estrada in his honor. Later, in 1872, Jesús Angel, a settler from Bernal, founded what became known as Garita near Garita Creek, a small arroyo about a quarter mile northwest of the distinctive sandstone formations. As settlers established homes westward along the creek, a separate community developed there under the Garita name.
When postal services were combined for the region, the community adopted both names. The post office, which opened on January 19, 1907, used the name Variadero intermittently until the 1920s, eventually settling on Garita with ZIP code 88421. Jose Laureano Estrada and his wife Filomena remain buried at the Catholic Cemetery across Highway 104 from the Catholic Church in Variadero, their gravestones still visible today.
