Bradley is an unincorporated community in southwestern Polk County, Florida, with a population of 542 as of the 2020 census. The community takes its name from a historic railroad junction that still operates today. This junction once connected two important rail lines: the Seaboard Air Line Railroad running east-west and the Charlotte Harbor and Northern Railway running north-south. The Charlotte Harbor and Northern Railway was chartered in 1905 by phosphate mining company executive Peter B. Bradley, after whom the junction was named. Both railroad lines are now owned and operated by CSX Transportation. In the mid-1990s, the Florida Gulf Coast Railroad Museum, now known as the Florida Railroad Museum, relocated the railroad station from Bradley Junction to the nearby community of Parrish. Shortly after this move, the depot was destroyed by fire. Today, Bradley sits at an elevation of 135 feet above sea level and is served by Polk County Public Schools, making it a small but historically significant part of the region's transportation and industrial heritage.
