Sherrills Ford is an unincorporated community in eastern Catawba County, North Carolina, with deep roots reaching back to the colonial era. The Sherrills, of English ancestry, had made their way from northeast Maryland, likely traveling through Pennsylvania, West Virginia, and Virginia before settling here. Once a census-designated place in its own right, Sherrills Ford has been included within the larger Lake Norman of Catawba CDP since the 2010 census and remains part of the Hickory-Lenoir-Morganton Metropolitan Statistical Area.
