Laughlin is an unincorporated community in southern Clark County, Nevada, situated ninety miles south of Las Vegas along the Colorado River. As a census-designated place with a 2020 population of 8,658, this resort town has built its reputation on gaming and water recreation. Don Laughlin, a Minnesota native who operated the 101 Club in Las Vegas, purchased the southern tip of Nevada in 1964 after recognizing its tourism potential. The town's growth accelerated through the 1960s and 1980s with the opening of multiple casinos and hotels. In 1987, Don Laughlin funded the construction of a bridge connecting Laughlin to Bullhead City at a cost of three point five million dollars, which he donated to Nevada and Arizona. The bridge now carries thirty thousand vehicles daily.
