If you've got a car sitting in your driveway that you don't want anymore, the hardest part is over — you've already decided to let it go. Joe's Cash For Cars makes everything after that as simple as it gets. You call, we make you an offer, you say yes, we show up and pay you on the spot. That's it.
We buy cars for cash all over Unaka and the surrounding Cherokee County area — running or not, any make, any model, free towing, scheduled pickup.
A lot of people assume their old car isn't worth much — especially if it doesn't run, has body damage, or has been sitting for a while. But we buy cars in every kind of condition, and we almost always pay more than people expect. Give us a call at 619-762-2001 and find out exactly what your car is worth.
There's no shortage of people who claim they'll buy your car — but a lot of them will lowball you, ghost you after the inspection, or show up with a completely different number than what they quoted. We don't operate that way.
We service every part of Unaka, including:
Three steps from your first call to getting paid. No runaround, no hidden fees.
Tell us your car's year, make, model, and condition. We give you a real offer in under two minutes — no callbacks, no pressure.
Accept the offer and pick a time that works for you — often the same day or next. We come right to you in Unaka — home, work, wherever. You don't move an inch.
Our driver brings all the paperwork, handles the tow, and pays you before they leave. Under 30 minutes, start to finish.
Some car-buying services quote you high to get you interested, then the driver shows up and suddenly there's a problem with the catalytic converter or the transmission mounts and the offer drops by $300. We've heard this story from Unaka customers dozens of times. Our quote is based on an honest assessment, and that's the number we show up with — period.
Once you accept your offer, we'll set up a pickup time that works for you — often the same day or next day, especially if you're anywhere in Unaka or the surrounding Cherokee County area. We run routes here regularly, so scheduling is rarely an issue. Give us a call and we'll lock in a time.
Transferring a car in North Carolina involves more forms than most people expect — especially if the title isn't straightforward or there's an outstanding loan. Our drivers carry everything, know the process cold, and make sure it's all done correctly so you're not on the hook for anything down the road.
After we buy your vehicle in Unaka, it's either resold, parted out, or recycled through licensed facilities that meet all North Carolina environmental regulations. We never abandon vehicles or dump them — every car we buy is handled responsibly.

Unaka is an unincorporated community nestled within the Nantahala National Forest in Cherokee County, North Carolina, located 9.6 miles northwest of Murphy. The community's name comes from a Cherokee word meaning "white," a reference to the low-lying clouds and fog that characterize the Unicoi Mountains in this region.
Throughout its history, Unaka has developed the institutions typical of rural mountain communities. The town maintained a post office until its closure on February 15, 1986. Education has long been important to residents, with a two-story, wood-frame schoolhouse serving the area by 1940. In 1952, the community replaced this building with a new brick school featuring five classrooms. By the late 1950s, the school's eight grades served 153 students. The volunteer fire department, established in 1983, continues to serve the area and opened a new four-bay station in 2024. The Unaka Community Center, built in 1976, remains a gathering place for residents.
Like many rural mountain communities, Unaka faces modern infrastructure challenges. Cellular service providers have determined the area lacks sufficient population density to justify building a tower, leaving residents without reliable cell coverage. The community was promised fiber-optic internet in 2023, though the lines remain uninstalled as of 2025. Additionally, residents must travel approximately an hour to reach the county landfill for trash disposal. In 2026, the community selected Cheyenne, a miniature horse, as its official mascot.
