Kenefic is a small town in Bryan County, Oklahoma, with a population of 147 residents according to the 2020 census. The town was named after William Kenefick, president of the Missouri, Oklahoma and Gulf Railroad, which built a rail line through the region. The spelling of the town's name has varied between Kenefic and Kenefick throughout its history. When Kenefic was founded, it was located in Blue County within the Choctaw Nation. Today, the town covers one square mile and is accessible via State Highway 48 and State Highway 22. Notable natural features nearby include McGee Creek State Park and McGee Creek Lake to the northeast, as well as Lake Texoma to the southwest. The 2020 census showed that the median age of residents was 38.5 years, with 22.4 percent under age 18 and 17 percent age 65 and older. All of Kenefic's population lives in rural areas.
