Beloit is a village located in southwestern Mahoning County, Ohio, and is part of the Youngstown–Warren metropolitan area. With a population of 903 residents according to the 2020 census, the village covers approximately one square mile. The community traces its origins to the late 1840s, when the construction of a railroad through the territory sparked its development. Originally known as Smithfield Station, the village adopted the name Beloit in 1863, taking it from Beloit, Wisconsin. The village's population has gradually declined over the past two decades, dropping from 1,024 residents in 2000 to 978 in 2010 before settling at 903 by 2020.
