Waldron is a small city located in Harper County, Kansas, situated along the Kansas and Oklahoma state border. Founded around 1900, the community established its first post office in 1902. During the 1901-1902 period, Waldron became a significant junction point where the rail lines of the Choctaw Northern Railroad and the Kansas City, Mexico and Orient Railway crossed. The community is home to a notable connection through the Messner family—the ashes of evangelist Tammy Faye Messner were interred in the family plot in Waldron in 2007.
