Sutherland is an unincorporated community in Dinwiddie County, Virginia, situated on U.S. Route 460 about nine miles west-southwest of Petersburg. On April 2, 1865, during the final Appomattox Campaign, Sutherland was the site of the Battle of Sutherland's Station, a notable engagement near the war's conclusion.
