Stephens is a city located in southwest Ouachita County, Arkansas, and is part of the Camden Micropolitan Statistical Area. The city was incorporated in 1889 and covers a total area of 2.8 square miles. According to the 2020 census, Stephens had a population of 770 residents living in 376 households. The city's population has fluctuated over the decades, with 891 residents recorded in 2010 and 1,152 in 2000, reflecting changing demographic trends in the community.

According to 2010 census data, the city's racial makeup was 57.1 percent Black and 40.6 percent White, along with smaller populations of Native American and multiracial residents. Students in the city are currently zoned to the Camden Fairview School District. The Stephens School District, which previously operated Stephens High School, was dissolved by the Arkansas Board of Education in April 2014. However, the high school building was later reopened in 2021 as a private school operated by the Apostolic Church of Stephens.
