If you've got a car sitting in your driveway that you don't want anymore, the hardest part is over — you've already decided to let it go. Joe's Cash For Cars makes everything after that as simple as it gets. You call, we make you an offer, you say yes, we show up and pay you on the spot. That's it.
We buy cars for cash all over Shelby and the surrounding Polk County area — running or not, any make, any model, free towing, scheduled pickup.
A lot of people assume their old car isn't worth much — especially if it doesn't run, has body damage, or has been sitting for a while. But we buy cars in every kind of condition, and we almost always pay more than people expect. Give us a call at 619-762-2001 and find out exactly what your car is worth.
There's no shortage of people who claim they'll buy your car — but a lot of them will lowball you, ghost you after the inspection, or show up with a completely different number than what they quoted. We don't operate that way.
We service every part of Shelby, including:
Three steps from your first call to getting paid. No runaround, no hidden fees.
Tell us your car's year, make, model, and condition. We give you a real offer in under two minutes — no callbacks, no pressure.
Accept the offer and pick a time that works for you — often the same day or next. We come right to you in Shelby — home, work, wherever. You don't move an inch.
Our driver brings all the paperwork, handles the tow, and pays you before they leave. Under 30 minutes, start to finish.
Some car-buying services quote you high to get you interested, then the driver shows up and suddenly there's a problem with the catalytic converter or the transmission mounts and the offer drops by $300. We've heard this story from Shelby customers dozens of times. Our quote is based on an honest assessment, and that's the number we show up with — period.
Once you accept your offer, we'll set up a pickup time that works for you — often the same day or next day, especially if you're anywhere in Shelby or the surrounding Polk County area. We run routes here regularly, so scheduling is rarely an issue. Give us a call and we'll lock in a time.
Transferring a car in Nebraska involves more forms than most people expect — especially if the title isn't straightforward or there's an outstanding loan. Our drivers carry everything, know the process cold, and make sure it's all done correctly so you're not on the hook for anything down the road.
After we buy your vehicle in Shelby, it's either resold, parted out, or recycled through licensed facilities that meet all Nebraska environmental regulations. We never abandon vehicles or dump them — every car we buy is handled responsibly.

Shelby is a village located in Polk County, Nebraska, positioned along the north side of U.S. Highway 81 near the county's eastern edge. Situated approximately six miles east of Osceola and just seventeen miles south and three miles west of Columbus, Shelby sits near Nebraska's center of population. As of the 2020 census, the village had a population of 710 residents.
The community traces its origins to 1873, when Civil War veteran Horace A. Cowles established the Cyclone post office in his home. With the arrival of the railroad in 1879, a second post office named Arcade was created, but the name caused confusion with Arcadia in Valley County. In the winter of 1880, the post office relocated to its present location and was renamed Shelby after an official with the Omaha and Republican Valley Railway, a Union Pacific branch line. Local landowners Gilbert Van Vorce and Peter Matter, recognizing the need for a trade center, donated half interest in their property to the railroad company to establish the town. The original town layout, still present today, features eight blocks on each side of the tracks with streets named Walnut, Elm, Chestnut, Pine, Cherry, and Oak.
By 1880, Shelby's initial population of ninety-three supported a drug store, hardware store, hotel, boot and shoe shop, livery stable, and physician. J.T. Dunning constructed the first elevator on the south side of the tracks near the railway depot, while H.C. and Frank Dunning operated the first general merchandise store. The first hardware store, opened by Conrad Thelen and Charles Krumbach, operated for forty years. Today, Shelby maintains its community character with local businesses, organizations, and continues to grow with new housing developments.
