If you've got a car sitting in your driveway that you don't want anymore, the hardest part is over — you've already decided to let it go. Joe's Cash For Cars makes everything after that as simple as it gets. You call, we make you an offer, you say yes, we show up and pay you on the spot. That's it.
We buy cars for cash all over Porthill and the surrounding Boundary County area — running or not, any make, any model, free towing, scheduled pickup.
A lot of people assume their old car isn't worth much — especially if it doesn't run, has body damage, or has been sitting for a while. But we buy cars in every kind of condition, and we almost always pay more than people expect. Give us a call at 619-762-2001 and find out exactly what your car is worth.
There's no shortage of people who claim they'll buy your car — but a lot of them will lowball you, ghost you after the inspection, or show up with a completely different number than what they quoted. We don't operate that way.
We service every part of Porthill, including:
Three steps from your first call to getting paid. No runaround, no hidden fees.
Tell us your car's year, make, model, and condition. We give you a real offer in under two minutes — no callbacks, no pressure.
Accept the offer and pick a time that works for you — often the same day or next. We come right to you in Porthill — home, work, wherever. You don't move an inch.
Our driver brings all the paperwork, handles the tow, and pays you before they leave. Under 30 minutes, start to finish.
Some car-buying services quote you high to get you interested, then the driver shows up and suddenly there's a problem with the catalytic converter or the transmission mounts and the offer drops by $300. We've heard this story from Porthill customers dozens of times. Our quote is based on an honest assessment, and that's the number we show up with — period.
Once you accept your offer, we'll set up a pickup time that works for you — often the same day or next day, especially if you're anywhere in Porthill or the surrounding Boundary County area. We run routes here regularly, so scheduling is rarely an issue. Give us a call and we'll lock in a time.
Transferring a car in Idaho involves more forms than most people expect — especially if the title isn't straightforward or there's an outstanding loan. Our drivers carry everything, know the process cold, and make sure it's all done correctly so you're not on the hook for anything down the road.
After we buy your vehicle in Porthill, it's either resold, parted out, or recycled through licensed facilities that meet all Idaho environmental regulations. We never abandon vehicles or dump them — every car we buy is handled responsibly.

Porthill is an unincorporated community in Boundary County, Idaho, situated at the Canada-United States border with British Columbia. As one of only three Idaho ports of entry into Canada, it serves as the American side of the Porthill-Rykerts Border Crossing, where Idaho State Highway 1 connects with British Columbia Highway 21. The community takes its name from Charles Plummer Hill, who also lent his name to Hillcrest Mines in Alberta.
The area's settlement began in earnest during the 1870s when David McLoughlin relocated to the former trading post and hostel known as Ockonook, a word meaning a grassy hillside with rocks. By 1883, John C. Rykert established a Canadian customs station across the boundary to monitor river traffic. The community flourished during the steamboat era, with hotels, a general store, and government school instruction beginning in 1895 under teacher Agnes McKay. Charles Plummer Hill became the US customs officer in 1893 and successfully renamed the settlement Porthill in 1897.
The arrival of the Bedlington & Nelson Railway in 1899 brought further development, though rail service proved temporary. The final passenger train departed in 1927, and freight service ended in the 1970s. A cemetery established by the IOOF chapter in 1908 remains an important landmark, with the oldest burial dating to 1898. Today, Porthill's primary role centers on its function as a vital international border crossing, serving travelers and commerce between Idaho and British Columbia.
