Perrin is a small census-designated place in southeastern Jack County, Texas, with a population of 346 as of the 2020 census. Located at the intersection of US Highway 281 and FM 2210, the community sits 14 miles north of Jacksboro and 16 miles south of Mineral Wells, with Fort Worth lying about 53 miles to the southeast.
The town was established in 1870 and named for Levi W. Perrin, the father of founder Louis Perrin. During the early twentieth century, Perrin was a thriving community that supported two banks and was actually larger than Jacksboro. The town came into serious consideration as a potential county seat but ultimately lost that designation to Jacksboro, primarily because Perrin was not centrally located within the county.
Today, Perrin serves its residents and visitors through a modest array of local businesses and services.
