Millsap is a small town in western Parker County, Texas, located fifteen miles west of Weatherford on Farm to Market Road 113. The community began as a relay station on the stagecoach route connecting Weatherford to Palo Pinto. It was named for Fuller Millsap, who moved to Texas in 1849 and settled in Parker County in 1856. A post office opened in the town in 1877, and the arrival of the Texas and Pacific Railway tracks in 1880 marked a turning point for local development. By the 1890s, Millsap had grown into a retail and shipping center for area farmers. The community flourished during this period, and by the early twentieth century it supported a bank, more than a dozen businesses, three churches, an educational institution called Millsap College that offered ten grades of instruction, and a weekly newspaper called the Millsap News. The town's population grew from an estimated one hundred residents in 1890 to eight hundred by 1920. However, following World War II, Millsap experienced significant decline. The population dropped to 261 by 1968, then recovered somewhat to 412 in 1988, before settling at 353 by 2000. According to the 2020 census, the town had 370 residents. Today, Millsap is served by the Millsap Independent School District and remains part of the Parker County community.
