Lupton is an unincorporated community and census-designated place in Apache County, Arizona, situated along Interstate 40 near the New Mexico border, about 21 miles southwest of Gallup, New Mexico. Known in Navajo as Tsé Siʼání, Lupton has served as a small outpost in northeastern Arizona for over a century. The community was established in 1905 by trainmaster G. W. Lupton, from whom it takes its name. The area has deeper historical roots as well—Colonel John Washington passed through during his 1864 Navajo Campaign, marking an earlier period of activity in the region. Today, Lupton remains modest in size, with a population of 25 residents according to the 2010 census. The community maintains its own post office, identifiable by ZIP code 86508, and residents are served by the Sanders Unified School District. Though small and unincorporated, Lupton continues as a recognizable presence along the interstate corridor at Arizona's eastern edge.
