Ithaca is a small village located in Saunders County, Nebraska. Founded in 1866, the village was named after Ithaca, New York, the hometown of one of its pioneer settlers. According to the 2020 census, Ithaca had a population of 160 residents. The village covers a total area of 0.23 square miles, consisting entirely of land.
Over the decades, Ithaca has remained a modest rural community. Census data from 2010 showed 148 people living in the village, with a median age of 36.7 years. The racial composition was predominantly white, with smaller populations of Native American and other racial groups.
The village has produced at least one notable figure in American military history. Harold D. Hansen, born in 1904 and passing in 1987, became a Brigadier General in the United States Marine Corps.
