If you've got a car sitting in your driveway that you don't want anymore, the hardest part is over — you've already decided to let it go. Joe's Cash For Cars makes everything after that as simple as it gets. You call, we make you an offer, you say yes, we show up and pay you on the spot. That's it.
We buy cars for cash all over Fries and the surrounding Grayson County area — running or not, any make, any model, free towing, scheduled pickup.
A lot of people assume their old car isn't worth much — especially if it doesn't run, has body damage, or has been sitting for a while. But we buy cars in every kind of condition, and we almost always pay more than people expect. Give us a call at 619-762-2001 and find out exactly what your car is worth.
There's no shortage of people who claim they'll buy your car — but a lot of them will lowball you, ghost you after the inspection, or show up with a completely different number than what they quoted. We don't operate that way.
We service every part of Fries, including:
Three steps from your first call to getting paid. No runaround, no hidden fees.
Tell us your car's year, make, model, and condition. We give you a real offer in under two minutes — no callbacks, no pressure.
Accept the offer and pick a time that works for you — often the same day or next. We come right to you in Fries — home, work, wherever. You don't move an inch.
Our driver brings all the paperwork, handles the tow, and pays you before they leave. Under 30 minutes, start to finish.
Some car-buying services quote you high to get you interested, then the driver shows up and suddenly there's a problem with the catalytic converter or the transmission mounts and the offer drops by $300. We've heard this story from Fries customers dozens of times. Our quote is based on an honest assessment, and that's the number we show up with — period.
Once you accept your offer, we'll set up a pickup time that works for you — often the same day or next day, especially if you're anywhere in Fries or the surrounding Grayson County area. We run routes here regularly, so scheduling is rarely an issue. Give us a call and we'll lock in a time.
Transferring a car in Virginia involves more forms than most people expect — especially if the title isn't straightforward or there's an outstanding loan. Our drivers carry everything, know the process cold, and make sure it's all done correctly so you're not on the hook for anything down the road.
After we buy your vehicle in Fries, it's either resold, parted out, or recycled through licensed facilities that meet all Virginia environmental regulations. We never abandon vehicles or dump them — every car we buy is handled responsibly.

Fries is a small incorporated town nestled on the New River in Grayson County, Virginia, about fifteen miles northeast of Independence. Pronounced "freeze," the town sits within Virginia's Blue Ridge Highlands and lies on The Crooked Road, Virginia's musical heritage trail. As of the 2020 census, Fries is home to 450 residents.
The town's history is deeply connected to the textile industry. In 1900, local resident Jim 'Pipe' Carico proposed that North Carolina cotton mill owner Colonel Francis Henry Fries develop a hydroelectric dam site at Bartlett Falls. Fries purchased the surrounding farmland and constructed a complete company town, including a dam, cotton mill, houses, post office, church, and commissary. The New River Train was extended to the mill site by 1901, and the town was officially incorporated in 1902. When the mill began operation in February 1903, it featured the most sophisticated technology available. The mill remained a vital employer for nearly a century, but closed in 1989 after employing 1,700 people. That same year, Fries High School also closed, with students consolidating into Grayson County High School.
Today, Fries celebrates its rich musical heritage through annual festivals, including the August Old-Time Fiddlers' and Bluegrass Convention and the September Festival by the New River. The town serves as one of three endpoints of the New River Trail State Park, offering recreational opportunities along the historic 57.7-mile rail trail. Several historic properties, including the Stephen G. Bourne House and Fries Boarding Houses, are listed on the National Register of Historic Places.
