Fox is an unincorporated community in Carter County in southern Oklahoma. Named for Frank M. Fox of the Chickasaw Nation, the community established its post office on January 25, 1894. According to the 2020 census, Fox had a population of 92 residents, all living in a rural setting. The median age of residents was 48.0 years, with roughly one-third of the population aged 65 and older, while just under one-fifth were under age 18. The community contained 39 households and 52 housing units, with about a quarter of the housing units vacant. Most households were either married-couple families or single-person households. Fox High School educated notable figures in higher education, including Robert L. Lynn, who graduated in 1949 and later served as president of Louisiana College in Pineville, Louisiana from 1975 to 1997. Today, Fox remains a small, rural community with deep historical roots in Oklahoma's Native American heritage.
