Ewing is a village located in Holt County, Nebraska. The community was platted in 1882 when the Fremont, Elkhorn and Missouri Valley Railroad was extended to that point. It was named for James Ewing, who served as the village's first postmaster. According to the 2020 census, Ewing had a population of 373 residents. The village covers a total area of 0.45 square miles. Over the past two decades, Ewing's population has declined slightly, from 433 people in 2000 to 387 in 2010. Historically, the community was served by Ewing Public Schools, though in 2020 the Ewing school district was absorbed into Summerland Public Schools. Ewing High School has established a strong reputation for athletics, winning numerous state championships in recent years including golf titles in 2003, 2005, and 2006, boys' basketball in 2006 and 2010, girls' basketball in 2007, 2008, and 2009, and championships in both football and volleyball in 2008.
