Axis is an unincorporated community and census-designated place in northeastern Mobile County, Alabama. According to the 2020 census, the population stood at 561 residents, representing a decline from 757 in 2010. The community spans 3.5 square miles and is situated just south of U.S. Route 43, which connects it to downtown Mobile seventeen miles to the south and Mount Vernon eleven miles to the north.
